Summary of presentation dr. Jan Siemons:

  1. Trends of Foreign Direct Investment in Europe: the what, where and why of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Europe. The current leading investor in the EU are European countries, followed by the USA, but more and more Chinese countries have become active in investing into the EU. How, where and why are Chinese companies investing in certain European countries?
  2. The implications of the Chinese One Belt One Road Initiative in Europe: The OBOR-project, which involves more than 60 countries and quite a few international organizations, implies unprecedented opportunities – and challenges and risks, also for Europe in terms of international trade and investment.
